Outdoor Equipment

I received an email tonight from Perry and Allyson Rosenbloom, a young couple who are trying to get an outdoor gear review website off the ground. They asked me if I would be willing to provide a link in my blogroll to help them out. Well, I am OK with doing that, but frankly the days of “blogroll links” doing much good seem to be in the past. Let’s face it, only a few of us look at blogrolls anymore. In fact I don’t think I even have a blogroll on The Cottage Chronicles these days. If I do, I don’t know where to find it.

However…I am always willing to try and help out a fellow blogger/website creator, so I took a look at Perry and Allyson’s website and I figured you might be interested too.

Their website is about outdoor gear reviews, specifically this:
OutdoorEquipment.com is working hard to be the leading resource in helping outdoor lovers of all ages and abilities find the right gear and stay safe on the trails.

Our gear reviews are 100% independent and we receive ZERO compensation from manufacturers so you can rest assured our reviews are 100% unbiased, reliable and dependable.

and their “About” page says:

The owners, editors & writers of OutdoorEquipment.com are a husband and wife team. Perry & Allyson Rosenbloom.

Perry & Allyson live in an outdoorsy state, Colorado where they spend every available second hiking, backpacking, rockclimbing, skiing, snowboarding & snowshoeing in the great outdoors.

A Different Approach To Gear Reviews

Perry and Allyson have taken a different approach to their gear reviews. What they do is take a video camera along with them on their outdoor adventures and ask outdoorsy folks like you and I to tell us on camera what they think of various outdoor equipment they are using. It’s actually a pretty good idea. I wish my crack team of roving reporters etc had thought of it…..

To give you an idea, here’s one of the reviews, this is Allyson providing a review of a Mountain Hardware Power Stretch Zip Thermal Shirt

Contest Give Away

In addition to reviews, Perry and Allyson also run monthly contests where they give away free outdoor gear. This month (December 2012) they are giving away a Jetflow Raptor backpack (you can check the contest out: Here

They have reviews of camping gear, hiking & backpacking gear, climbing gear, as well as men’s and women’s clothing. Here is another review, this one from Rachel Piontak reviewing her pair of prAna Monarch Women’s Convertible Hiking Pants.

There ya go, some interesting stuff to check out. I enjoy watching their gear reviews, it’s a great way to see what other folks think of various outdoor equipment.

Visit their website and have a look for yourself: Outdoor Equipment.Com

Note from Rob: This is NOT a paid review. I did this because I liked the idea.
