We’re Still Here

Hello Cottager. It’s been awhile, how have you been? I hope the last couple weeks of summer did you proud and you spent them at the lake.

Wow…here it is October and I haven’t posted since August 11th. What can I say? Sorry about that. It’s been a busy couple of months, lots going on I will tell you about it one of these days.

I would like to make a special mention though. I had an email today from our reader. His name is Bob, and Bob is from Minneappleis…ahhh…Minneapolis in the United States.

Bob did something today that I truly appreciated, he took the time to send me an email and ask if everything was OK because we hadn’t posted for so long. He was wondering if it was us or if he was having some kind of computer problem. Bob has a cottage on an island on Lake of the Woods in Ontario. God Bless him, perhaps someday he will be able to afford a place on Lake Charlotte in Nova Scotia, but for now, well, Lake of the Woods will have to do.

Anyway, I just wanted to say a public thank you to Bob for having the kindness to take the time to write and see if everything was good here. I appreciate that…it is quite a bit more than the rest of ya did. Thanks Bob.

Speaking of correspondence, and in fairness, I did hear from our roving correspondent Lonesome Larry MacDonnell today as well. Ol’ Lonesome was also wondering what had become of The Cottage Chronicles, and…well, here is what he said:

I can’t get anything new on Cottage Chronicles, last post was August 9th, what am I doing wrong. Maybe my thingee is wore out or isn’t turned on. Did I get fired or retired from my position as NB roaving reporter, if so I want my severe-aunts pay. LL

I had to explain to Lonesome Larry that unfortunately since we had no money when this website was a going concern, we have less money now that it is struggling to stay afloat like a waterlogged piece of spruce. So there is no severe-aunts pay, and even if there was, I would have to pay it to his Aunts.

Fear not dear reader, (Bob from Minneapolis) we are here, and we will try not to disappoint you any more than we usually do, which is probably daily.

On a brighter note, Bob did say that reading The Cottage Chronicles was a bit like tuning into an episode of Corner Gas or Red Green. I am not sure how to take that given both of those shows have gone off the air……..

If you are interested in “elevator and escalator, horizontal and vertical transportation consulting” check out Bob’s company, he is Regional Manager for Lerch Bates a company who’s business goes up and down daily.

  1. Here’s the latest word from our roving reporter, Lonesome Larry:

Glad to see yer finger ain’t broke Rob, Me ‘n Al are keepin’ a close eye on yer shed ( beer fridge inside) while the family matters keep you away, we’ll check the camp in the spring . Speakin’ of Me ‘n Al , we re-dude the water works in the camp this summer finished this week (almost). I should tell the folks all the mistakes we made and what a mess— I mean how we did it. Here’s a couple of things to think about Rob, (1) Water runs down hill —– most of the time (2) Turn off the
pump. I know Wendy is rollin’ her eyes and skakin’ her head, we’re gonna’ fix your water thing next summer, put in a hot-tub for ya darlin’—– I was lookin’ at those big tubs they put fish in and my old sump-pump—– I wonder—– time to go over to Al’s to have a —- make a plan. LL
