Another Diamond Day

This was another one of those great days when stuff went pretty well. For starters, we headed over to Vogue Optical so I could pick out a new pair of eye glasses. That went great, I found a pair that will work, help me to see and keep me looking somewhat fashionable if not intelligent. Thanks to Betty at Vogue for her help today, she is our city’s best and sexiest optician !

After I got my glasses we went to Blue Cross where I turned in the papers that Betty had filled out for me so I could claim some of the cost of my glasses back. The place was fairly busy, but it went fast and in no time I was walking out with a cheque for $140. Gotta love that, and the lady who processed my claim at Blue Cross, her name escapes me, but she was one of the most efficient and fastest typers I have ever seen. Quick, efficent and friendly, what more can you ask for. She was sitting in the end wicket and as I waited for my number to be called I was hoping it would be her that called, and it was!

Then we were off to CAA to order one of their “TripTiks” a helpful document to have if you are taking a road trip. We’re not taking one anytime soon, but with one daughter moving to another province in the near future, I suspect there is a road trip in our future !! Triptiks are just one of the great benefits of having a CAA Membership. Their trip assistance and road side assistance make the membership well worth the money.

We followed that up with a trip to Superstore on Portland Street in Dartmouth, and discovered to my great joy, that the Superstore is now open 24 hours a day !! I don’t know why, but that makes me happy. I love the idea of stores being open 24 hours a day. I think it goes back to my youth when my folks took me on a vacation to Maine and we went to the L.L. Bean store in Freeport, Maine. That was in the early 1970’s and they were open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. I loved that, and they are still doing it.

Did all that and we were home in time for me to get out the lawn mower and cut the grass. These days with all the wet weather you have to cut your grass whenever you get an opportunity, especially considering we are back and forth to the camp. If I’m not careful, it can get away from me either here or at the camp, so if we get a day without rain, chances are I am cutting the grass.

And tonight, we’re going to have a visit with our daughter!! Truly another Diamond Day !!
