What do lemon juice, toothpaste and scotchtape have in common? Well among other things they are all listed as home remedies for curing itchy mosquito bites, at least according to the reader submitted ideas for the Best Remedies for Itchy Mosquito Bites on Ask.com they are all great for ending the itch of a mosquito bite.
Yup, rubbing some toothpaste on the bite will take the itch out of it, as well as giving the bite a nice bright smile. But seriously…..actually the cures that readers to Ask.com have submitted are not without merit. Many of them are things I have tried before, including toothpaste. There are some 114 pages of reader submitted cures including such notables as bananas, wet green tea bags, milk and yes, of course, beer….
I find that generally an itchy fly bite will eventually stop geing itchy on its own accord, although that is usually after I have scratched it down to the bone. I think I might put a tube of toothpaste in my fly fishing vest, if it doesn’t work for itchy mosquito bites at least I will have a nice smile for the photos of me holding a fish and fresh breath for fish kissing…..
