I dunno about you but I couldn’t imagine being around the camp without one or two of these Buffalo Check Shirts.
These are true outdoor shirts, made by Woolrich from 9.75-ounce yarn-dyed wool-blend fabric in 6 color patterns, although you would have a hard time convincing me that only the red/black, green/black or blue/black are not the best colors. Those to my mind are the traditional colors of a ‘jac-shirt’ that conjures up memories of the shirts that the old time hunters and fishermen that I grew up around always wore.
These are sturdy, warm shirts, with a double layer back yoke that provides extra warmth and protection and helps to shed water. Of course no outdoor shirt is a real outdoor shirt without two breast pockets with buttons and adjustable snaps. I usually buy these shirts a size larger than normal in case they shrink a little. A little larger size also allows for wearing something underneath. In fact, for many years I used to deer hunt with the green/black version with an insulated vest underneath and a hunter orange safety vest over top.
Nowadays these are great shirts for Spring and Fall around the cottage, cutting some firewood, or a cool evening at the campfire with friends.
