First Overnight Trip To The Cottage 2008

I got the “Sunday Night Home, From The Cottage, Tired Out Bloooozzz….” I don’t know if it’s the fresh air, pulling on boats and carrying motors, crawling around under the the bathroom sink trying to fix the leak in the drain or what….but I am tired.

It could also have something to do with going from 0-60 overnight, considering I have sat in front of this computer for the last six months with little or no activity. Then the first cottage weekend happens and I am a going concern…I think a cardiologist would probably give me his business card…..sensing a 48 year old client in the making.

It was a great cottage weekend though, plenty of food to eat, and lots of fresh air and sunshine, warm temps, and even some fishing. Managed to land two speckled trout on Saturday night trolling up the lake. They love minnows this time of year. Unfortunately, my minnow supplier was almost out by the time we got there Saturday morning, and was only able to sell me a couple dozen small ones. I need big ones on my lake….but I paid him five bucks for the 24 and carried on my way.

I discovered a small pin hole leak in the stern of my aluminum boat which didn’t make me very pleased, it’s not leaking much, but it’s leaking. Just enough to annoy me. I once owned a 12 foot aluminum boat that took to leaking badly, and it drove me crazy trying to get it fixed, in fact I had it welded, but ended up selling it. I hope that’s not what’s going to happen this time. Too soon to start worrying, first chance I get I will explore the leak a little more and see what I can do to fix it.

Speaking of leaks, the drain in the bathroom sink started leaking too, so that meant a trip to the local general store for some putty at three times the price in town, (you pay for the convenience) and then back to work on it. That used up much of this morning. I think I got it fixed though, which is a blessing. Otherwise, no complaints, the place was beautiful as usual….

Speaking of beautiful, my wife, who is the best fishing partner a man could hope for, and a great cook too, was with me, which made it a great weekend at the camp, especially the meals….I love to eat….her cooking…

She whipped up some fantastic camp meals on the old Enterprise stove this weekend, cleaned up behind me and was still ready to go fishing right on time, and looked great all the time, can’t ask for more than that….
