Although this blog is predominately geared toward those of us who enjoy Atlantic Salmon Fishing, there is always a little overlap between salmon fishermen and trout fishermen, especially when it comes to fly fishing.
For one thing, in many rivers, salmon and trout share the same waters, and it’s not unusual for a salmon fisherman to hook a trout now and then, and a sea trout when they are running. In fact, much of my trout catching is related to my salmon fishing, almost what commercial fishermen would call the bycatch. Nonetheless I always like to have a few trout flies with me when I go salmon fishing, in fact I always do, and often turn my attention to a big trout when I see one rise.
While selecting salmon fishing equipment to feature here, I came across something that is so nice I had to show it to you. It’s a Wheatley Fly Box fully stocked with trout flies that professional trout fly fishing guides use with their clients.
An elegant gift for the fly fisher who has everything. The box also has 45 dry flies, 30 nymphs, 10 streamers and bucktails. The flies are made by Orvis.
